Best Tips For Working From Home
Working from home is common since the COVID-19 outbreak. Follow these tips to help create a more productive work week.
1. Maintain a consistent schedule
Consistency is key when creating a productive work week. In order to stay on track and not work “crazy” hours, you’ll need to create a regular schedule for yourself. Start off by printing out a blank M-F calendar with an hour chart. Once you have your calendar printed, designate your work schedule. Block off time for appointments or phone calls and time for completing projects.
This method will help you get into a regular work routine. Give it a try!
2. Limit the distractions
If you live alone, this tip won’t apply to you but if you live with roommates or family members, keep them in the know. Distractions happen but can be avoided. Let your family members or roommates know when you’re working. Giving them a heads up will limit the disturbance.
Creating a private space for work will help limit the distractions as well. Get creative! Turn an extra bedroom into an office or invest in a desk for your room or basement. Having a work space will help limit the disturbance and allow for a more productive work week.
3. If you need it, ask for it
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need. If you work for a company or organization, ask for the equipment or tools you need to help you work in a comfortable environment. The more comfortable you are, the more productive you’ll be.
Most companies will provide internet, computers, printers, specific software or whatever is needed for you to complete your job. Remember, if you need it, ask for it.
4. Use a VPN when you can
Most companies will provide this software on your computer. If you plan to work at a library, restaurant, or cafe, a VPN is an essential. Especially if you want to keep your companies or organizations information safe. Talk with your company about a VPN.
5. It’s okay to take sick days
You aren’t doing yourself or your business any favors if you’re feeling unwell. The majority of people work better when they are feeling their best. Make sick days a priority (f you’re feeling sick). Resting and taking the time to take care of yourself is important.
